Where are you? There are some dealers where you could do no worse than MSRP. You may have to wait, though. :(

Paid MSRP + 1585 in stupid crap (protection, mats, pin stripping) but oh well.. at least we didn't have to wait! We could have gotten the 1585 taken away but my dad didn't care to haggle, he just let it be. :eeps:

... on May 9, 2002. But we had ordered it in April of 2001 with an agreement for MSRP at that time (through a contact in BMW CCA). When the time came our contact wasn't there that day and couldn't be located and we had to fight like hell to get our MSRP. I believe at that time and at that dealer MCS models were getting $3000 over sticker. As an ex-car salesman (many, many years ago and just for a few months), I was appalled by the games played by Irvine MINI and how we ended up spending virtually the entire day there. Oh well, $19,850 for an MCS ain't bad
Too bad it became a "project car" for my wife and I and we've now spent more than double that amount on our little red rocket... but we would probably do it again, it was a fun experience :)
As noted on other threads, you can see the "result" of our project car by picking up the April issue of Eurotuner http://www.eurotuner.com/toc/
Still not sure if I'm going to make it to right-before-tax-time Bimmerfest, but if I do I hope to see lots of MINIs!

I got my MCS 2 1/2 weeks ago and paid MSRP with no wait. I refuse to be held up by the bandits here in SoCal charging anywhere from 3 - 6K over MSRP - or having you wait for a year. I called dealers around the country and found the exact car I wanted in Nashville. I bought it, shipped it out and still saved 2 grand, and had no wait. There is no reason IMHO to pay over MSRP. It only took about 40 minutes on the phone and I found it. And ...It's a 50 state car so it's easy to register anywhere.

So far Scottsdale Mini in North Phoenix is telling us MSRP - but we haven't signed up, yet
