Looking for a set of 17" Rims for my 335i. I already have a set of WinterSport M3s from my S60R (luckily the right size, and still plenty of tread).
How do these compare to the ASA JH3? Weight? Durability?
Also are BMW caps available for either the A7s or the JH3s?
TIA

The A7 will be a new design for us this season, so do not have any direct experience with it yet. No weight info yet, but for a winter setup this should be a concern. Past Sport Edition wheels have been of fair to good quality. They'll get the job done for winter use, but aren't quite as nice as the ASA line. I do have stick-on caps available for the JH3. Just let me know when ordering that you'd like the caps added. I can do so at no charge for forum members.

how about the rial salerno?
quality vs asa, centercaps, etc? :)

The Rial wheels should be of similar to or slighlty higher quality than the ASA. Confirmed that caps do not fit the Rials, but we recently confirmed a test fitment of BMW caps to the Sport Edition A7 and they do work after all.

are there any stick on caps that will fit the rials?

Initial results were 'no' , but I'm having someone double check to see if the one style of stick on logo that we carry will work. If it doesn't I've heard of people buying a variety of sizes from Bavauto.com, Bavarian autosports.

if not, looks like amazon (yes amazon of all places) has them in 45, 58m 64.5mm, 68mm and 70mm. any idea what size?
also noticed this on the rial home page:
RIAL SALERNO – the new low maintenance five spoke winter wheel in "polar silver" with EH2+ Hump is also suitable for tyres with run flat tyre characteristics.
is there a special rft version, or is that the normal one?

Yes, I would like to know what size the caps that are needed for the Rial Salerno and if there is a special runflat version. I will be putting them on the 335i sport coupe with RFT winters.

Gary,
I am also interested in the RIAL SALERNO rims for this winter (335xi). Since they are "tailored especially for BMW vehicles", I assume the 30mm offset work.
Are the RIAL SALERNO rims on Tirerack the ones in "polar silver" with EH2+ Hump?
Thanks!

Yes, this wheel, and the others listed on the site will indeed fit the car. I can't confirm what Amazon means by EH2+Hump but this sounds like irrelevant information. The wheels are silver painted, but it doesn't say 'polar' silver anywhere on the rim so I also cannot confirm that, sorry.

Thanks Gary.
Polar silver with EH2+ Hump is actually taken straight from the Rial website (I intend to purchase these wheels and tires from you, not sure what Amazon has posted).
So I suppose my question is - are they RFT compatible?
PS: What is the best way to speak / write to you wrt to a specific purchase?
Thanks a lot.

Yes, this wheel is indeed runflat compatible (as are all the wheels that we sell). I can either help over the phone, or if you order online you can refer to 'Gary' as your previous contact at the end of the order.

Amazon = place I found roundel emblems of varying size since you said tire rack does not have emblems or caps to fit the salerno.
the other info was directly from the RIAL website. (hump, polar silver, etc)
pretty much set on getting salernos with M3 DSSTs and sensors. Found out one of the non rft m3's i was going to reuse has a sidewall bubble. might as well get RFTs while i'm at it. now what to do with the 4 sensors i bought intending to reuse the tires....

Would greatly appreciate if you let me know what is the size needed for the Salerno tires once you figure it out. I am looking to get them w/ the M3 DSSTs for this winter as well.
Thanks a lot!

I'm planning to get this set up for my 335i as well. Hope all goes well shipping them up to Canada. Gary, is it best if I call you and do it over the phone?
Thanks!

i'm going with 225/45/17s
if you go through tire rack and input your car stats, the selector will auto choose 5X120 ET30 salernos and by default 225/45/17s. i would stick with these.

Thanks - I got to that part (tire / wheel size). I was hoping for a round emblem size from Amazon - if you know what is the correct size for these tires.
Thanks again.

Got them yesterday, looks like the centercap is about 65-66mm. I ordered a set of 64.5mm stick on emblems. looking at the cap, they look exactly the same size as the ASA JH3 caps, so the emblems for the JH3 should fit. my stickers should be in by the end of the week, i'll report back as to how well 64.5mm fit.

Thanks again. I will be ordering the wheels soon - picking up my baby in two weeks.
Hopefully JH3 caps will work for us! Looking forward to hear back from you.

well, they fit ok. the caps are convex. i pushed the centers in so they were concave and carefully centered the cap, pushing down the emblem from the center to the edges, turning them convex again.

They look good! Thanks for posting the pic.
Can't wait to see them on the car - any chance you could post those pics as well once you mount the wheels? (I am picking up the car next week in Munich, so will have to wait until January to mount them myself.)
Not sure how the convex bit works, but I am sure I'll be able to figure it out based on your instruction once I get them.
PS: Let me know how you like the M3 DSSTs and sensors once you put them to work.
Thanks again, and I whish you many safe, and fun-filled miles.

will do. night time temps are starting to hover in the 40s, probably will put them on in a week or two
I bought the Rial Salerno wheels with the Dunlop M3 DSST runflats in 245/45/17 from Gary at tire rack. I installed them today on my 335I coupe and they fit with no problems. Gary sent me Center caps with the BMW logo that fit these wheels perfectly. Just ask him when you place your order. The info on this post seems incorrect as far as the center caps go

New BMW center caps do not fit in the center of the Salerno wheel. The tabs are such that the caps break when being installed. We very recently found an older style BMW cap (E36 style) that doesn't have as many tabs on the back that fits the Salerno with some effort. They didn't fit the Como wheel, just the Salerno.

GARY,
I put the E36 caps you sent me for the Salerno wheels and they pop on like a piece of cake. No problems at all.
