Ok. I know this topic has been brought up many times. but I think I want to start a thread in a more organized fashion. The topic here is strictly about how each of you upgrade your tire/rim to improve handling/look w/o spending too much. So a few questions:
What's your stock rim/tire config. and your upgraded config. and what's your total cost in upgrading (new rim+tire cost - selling of stock on ebay)
change the tires only -- read somewhere on this forum that changing the tires can improve the handling a lot. what's your experience on that?
going from 17" to 18"/19"/20" -- how much did that help? what is your net cost? were you able to get back part of it from increase resale value (actual numbers based on first-hand expereince or books pls)
also, i have an idea that i'm still chewing on. assuming i'm going to change my car to the same model (5er to 5er) in 2 years. i want to buy a set of new rim and tires, use them and keep them. when i trading/selling the current car, I'll replace the stock rim/tire which i'll use during winters. and put the upgrade rim/tire on the new car. does that sound like it'll work? my worst case is if it doesn't fit the new car i'll sell it then. what do yo think?
