View Full Version : Can changes be made to ED Purchase Order?

Hi All,

I did my Purchase Order yesterday for a 11/2 ED pickup (Week 42 build). My car is still in "111" status.

Can I still make changes to my car even though the Puchase Order has been sent to ED?

Or, is what is written on the Purchase Order somewhat irrelevant if the car has not reached "112" or "150" status yet?

Thanks!!!

P.O. is not carved in stone.

You can make changes now.

We changed added an option to the order while our X3 was in 112 status.

Hello JSpira,

Thank you for your response to my ED Purchase Order question. I asked the question because I am second-guessing my decision to get Navigation/iDrive. I did read your wonderful article, but I still have questions.

Here are my issues:

1) Cost is not really a factor here (although, $2,000 is still $2,000). But, I am not certain as to how much I would even use the Navigation as I tend to be a Mapquest-type of person. So, if I don't use the Navigation often, would the iDrive by itself be worth it?

(2) I was told that you should buy an upgraded DVD every 6 months so that you can be sure the directions are current and the DVD costs about $200. Has anyone found it necessary to do this?

(3) How reliable is the Navigation/iDrive in terms of durability? I tend to keep a car past the warranty period. Maybe even after the extended warranty period (although, I haven't decided on an extended warranty yet).

(4) I do know that the dashboard with Navigation has the extra hump and that doesn't necessarily bother me. Does anyone who has Navigation/iDrive find it to be a distraction (hump or the screen itself)?

(5) I frequently change radio stations and it appears that the only way to operate the radio is through iDrive. Is there another way?

(6) After hours of research, I came up with the following features of iDrive:

- Navigation with RTTI
- Voice Command system
- Two functions visible at a time (i.e., stereo and map; map and location)
- Graphical information on the state of the car such as oil level
- Graphical PDC (if option was ordered -- I ordered the option)
- Personalize more user settings (i.e., intensity of the auto climate)
- Using the equalizer for Logic 7
- Accessing cell phone info (i.e., phonebooks, last dialed call, missed call)
- Setting how your lighting works (welcome light, etc.)
- Triple turn signal activation
- 2 settings for parked car ventilation

(a) Are there any additional features?

(b) With the exception of voice commands, Navigation, RTTI, and graphical PDC -- can all of these other "features" be utilized in a car without iDrive?

Thanks!!!

Ja, I think so.

Must have been from someone who wants to sell DVDs. I think it depends on whether there are a lot of changes in roads in your area. I would update every 2 years or so if that.

Overall no trend in problems seen. If you keep the car, get an extended warranty as repairs can be expensive.

I think it looks better with the hump and that it looks naked and plain without. It is definitely not a distraction.

MFL buttons and voice command. Plus using iDrive is just as easy as turning a dial or using an iPod.

Perhaps most important is screen size when looking at iPod or HD radio or sat radio info. You should definitely consider the USB/iPod interface. It will change your listening habits.

The voice command is a very useful feature, esp. for calling people but also for quickly entering in info (you can speak names of cities for example, not spell them).

Your list is pretty accurate. I don't have time to check my article and research against it but you are pretty much spot on.

In sum, order it.

A/D,

What is status 112? My car went "scheduled for production" 3 days ago in the weekend. I made a boo boo and picked the wrong interior wood. I have until Nov 3rd when the car will be picked up. Can I still make a change to this do you think? Does the VIN reflect the options somehow?

Status 112 means that the car is "scheduled for production." However, I believe that your car is probably well past that status and changes can no longer be made. I am picking up my car on 11/2/07 and my car is now being transported to the Welt for pick-up.

My guess is that you are looking at the status listed on OC which is almost always out-of-date. For an accurate status, call (800) 831-1117 and use the automated system.

I am sure that your car will look great with the wood selection you chose.

get iDrive - I love it and I am sure u will too. The voice reg is part of it; so it makes controlling/changing everything so much easier. (radio stations - u can just say FM 92 point 7 fm - that it !!)

Hmm, thats not logical to me. Why would they follow a 7 day payment unless they have a more JIT production schedule? My car JUST went into that stage....

I reallllly hope I can change it.. Or maybe they can just pop it out and replace it. Its not like changing the color of the car....hopefully
