I wanted to run this by you exhaust experts. I am lovin the sound (video 1) of this web page: http://www.eisenhaus.com/ehprice.php?selMake=2&selModel=4480&selSub=427&selPerf=2&selTip=1327%231.1015%231ov.gif&Submit.x=25&Submit.y=9

Any issues with this exhaust and an 03 745li? Also can anyone recommend a reputable vendor with fair/good price for this? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

WHOA! I really like the sound of that! Wont pay 1700 for an exhaust though, nice piece nonetheless.

I ordered the sport, OEM no tips. I will post soundclips. I know, I know, before someone says it; the video in my first post is the performance version. I like the tone of that exhaust but did not want the db level of the performance version. The sport I feel will be just right. At least for me. But, who knows once i put it on I might wish I had gone for the performance version.

I ordered it from Modmargins, and will let everyone know how my experience with them turns out also.

I had sport on my E38, and they were very loud. My buddy has race on his 540, and it didn't seem as loud.

Glad to hear you have the budget for that system. It should be very nice as I have installed their products before. They appear to use straight through mufflers, if this is the case it can easily be duplicated for about half the cost if not less at a custom muffler shop. Just a little FYI from the new guy.

I ended up cancelling the order. So nothing to report. Still looking for a better deal.

I heard you can just take the Cats off (or have cut outs) and it makes the exhaust louder and nicer sounding.

If you live in California, just install some cutouts so you can still pass emission tests.

IIRC, cats are required by law. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd go the route MuffMan suggested - I nice after market muff and maybe some tips (or not). ie: Borla. I like GHL and think that would be a great match for the 7 series.

My concern would be cabin noise or drone at specific rpm's.

Yesterday I got a chance to ride in in a 03 745li with the sport eisenmann on it. (just the muffler). Boy am I thankful I got to hear AND RIDE in a car with this muffler before I did it. Here are my observations:

1.) When the car is started and sitting there at idle- SOUNDS AWESOME
2.) Except for idle the exhaust is LOUD.
3.) Sound REALLY resonates inside the car. It is way to loud in the car to be acceptable for me.
4.) Starting off from a stop (normal in town street driving-a normal start from say a red light) as the auto transmission works through the normal RPM's from 1st to 3rd the cars revs are audibly really cranking loud all the while you are only going like 15-30 mph. (exactly what strwyz was concerned about in the post above)

These charecteristics might be what you are looking for, and only my personal observations. I am however going to keep looking for a different solution. I was just looking to add a deeper, a little more aggressive tone. Nothing too extreme. The biggest take away for me was before you spend the dough make sure you have actually heard the exhaust/muffler in person, under real driving conditions AND sit in the car to see how much it resonates in the cabin.

Everyone stand by on this topic, we are trying a new idea at the shop next week. We are going to leave the stock muffler on the left most side and replace the right side with a performance unit while keeping the bypass valve. This will make the car quiet until you give enough throttle to open the bypass valve. With the valve open you will hear the performance unit.

As far as removing the cats, don't. It won't yeild much if any power gains, and you will get a check light. Oh yeah, cut outs are for hot rods, not luxury sedans.

Well to speak from my recent experience actually hearing a 745 with this muffler- going from 2db (stock) to around the 4.7db is VERY SIGNIFICANT.

Any new light to shed on this topic. I really would like to get an aftermarket exhaust but really don't want it loud too loud in the cabin. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a Borla but I've never heard one in person. Anybody???
