4.2 TT V8 in the cards

Autoweek (September 17th) is reporting/guessing in the reporting on the X6 of a 4.2 liter twin turbo with 410 hp. This sounds like a very likely candidate for the current 550 (x5 etc) as the performance gap between the 550 and the 535 are so close currently. Any thoughts or conjecture (or conformation!) would be great.

I read the same thing a few weeks ago in one of the auto mags (can't remeber which). My guess is that the new engine will either debut with the next 5 series or they'll pull an "e90 3-series" and release it the following year.

Interesting. Rumors have been around for a while, but I had always read 4.4 litres of displacement, the size of the old M62 (E39 540) and N62 (E60 545).

Regardless, my guess is that it will be introduced on the next 5-series (F10), no sooner than two years from now. There have been several threads speculating on this.
