My 2000 540i with the sport package came with the staggered tire/wheel package:
- P235/45WR17 front summer performance tires, 17" x 8" front Style 32 radial styling alloy wheels
- P255/40WR17 rear summer performance tires, 17" x 9" rear Style 32 radial styling alloy wheels
Since these wheels' finish wears off quickly, and since I want to run a non-staggered setup (I want to run the same tire/wheel size front and back), I bought 4 Style 32 wheels in the front size: 17" x 8"
I can of course simply run the stock front tire size (235/45), but I would like to run a slightly wider tire in 245 width, specifically 245/45R17, which is only 1.4% diameter difference.
- Can my wheels support this tire size?
- Does it depend on the tire selected?
