65 12 6 983 336 CD Changer

MODEL
E83 (X3) with Business CD Radio (option 662) from 09/2005

In order to activate the audio output, retrofit the CD Changer using Progman V21.00.00, or later.

I hope you knew. How about an iPOD retrofit instead?? Holds more and you couldn't possibly lose an album and look for it all over.

Tech;
Thanks for the information. Just got the '06 a couple of weeks ago. It has the stock single disc cd player. I was thinking about picking one up on e-bay for an install.

Regards.

Make sure you get the p/n ending in 336.

Although the older models work (ending in 404 or 760), they will not play MP3 CD's, and you will not get the IDv3 text appearing on the radio display. As for the coding of the vehicle to get the audio output to work, my dealer also indicated this was necessary, however I hooked up the CD changer from my old E39 (p/n ending in 760) and the audio worked just fine.

Good luck!:thumbup:

Note: I cannot confirm the IDv3 text with the -336 changer as I only had the older changer, however other users with 2006 X3's indicated you do see the text for MP3's in the changer (but not from the in-dash unit... go figure:dunno:)

Cheers,

Pierre

I just bought one too but hoping to mount it in the trunk instead of the center console. Did find the center console wires though. Kind of difficult to push out of place. Did trace all of the wires though. You have two cables which plug in where the AUX cable is supposed to plug in. One is labeled something like "SAR-CD". This one goes to the same labeled cable in the center console. The other one is not labeled. This one might be going to the rear trunk. I am hoping it isn't so that I can still plug in the AUX cable. The trunk CD changer wires go into the Sirius box. On the sirius box you have another blank port which I believe plugs into another 3 wire connector which plugs into the center console.
