I've got a 540i and I see in the parts catalog it could be either a 120A or 140A alternator. Wondering if I'm going to need to up-power it a bit and is there any aftermarket alternators that can do this with ease.
Already got a new big battery - haven't gone down the Optima route - thought I'd have a crack at a Din95 first up and see how long it lasts.
Realistically, I want the system to be able to maintain the following power output without draining the battery 300rms to the subs, 20rms if that to the rears, 60 rms to each front midbass, and 10rms to each horn
So guesstimated current draw:
Subs 25A
Rears 2A
F midbass 10A
F horns 24A
Total of 61A.
So I'm guessing I need a bit more from the alternator. Any suggestions?
