Not bad...I really like the color.

It is beginning to look better, but to me I see a lot of Z3 influence in the front end. Maybe it is because of the tape around the headlights...:dunno:

I really like the wheels -- very dramatic. Overall I think it's a good design, although not as understated as the E39.

Not too thrilled about the hood lines, too Roadster looking for a mid-size car. The front bumper screams 3 series. I don't know, I guess I'll slowly start to like it once it comes out...

I like it a lot more than the E65, but there really is no way around the fact that the front has A LOT of Pontiac in it.

Plus, maybe it's just the lighting of this pic, but that schnoz is *huge.* Looks like it has a beak.

This picture has the car looking better than the past spy shots. Thats at least good. I'd still like to see the lines from the side and also see if the front wheel is more near the front of the car.

Patrick

That looks a lot better than what we have been seeing in spy pics!

I agree with Jetfire: those are awesome wheels.

At this point in time I wonder why they bother with all the tape. The car has been see all over the place and the shape is well documented. Is there really that much mystery left in the the lights? The outline in the front is pretty clear, so it isn't really hiding much there at all.

What tape ? It's the optional 'Individual Headlights Package' :D

Not bad, I'm not sure how it will look with those turn signals exposed though....

At least it looks very agressive and powerful...

E60 540d Touring might be a good idea in a few years.

Alex, any data on the 4.0 liter's performance?

It won't be long before Alpina gets their hands on that monster ... D10, look out!

:bigpimp:

Alex Baumann

I haven't heard of a new 4.0 Liter at the moment. I'm guessing that the line will look like this 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 / 4.5 Liter.

We know the last two from the E65 with Valvetronic etc. I know that they are developing Valvetronic for the smaller engines, but no confirmation yet.

Alpina E60 ? Now that's 'nother story :D

Sweeet! That means I can go to the local DIY store and pick up my own kit to retrofit on my car for what, $2~$3:D

So lets see...I have a TI Silver E46...I guess I go with the silver duct tape and give it the E46 compact look. Yeah...that's the ticket!:bigpimp:

I see the Z3 schnoz on it, too. But it might just be accented by the tape. It also resembles a Mazda6 in the same way. The E39 has a rather humpy hood too but the design does a really good job of disguising it.

It seems to have little resemblance to the E65 which is a good thing. But the new MB E is so beautiful inside and out that this doesn't have a chance in hell of keeping up with that in the marketplace.

I wonder what that "thing" is on the lower fascia (passenger side) that looks like a third fog lamp.

Radar sensor for the Distronic (or whatever BMW calls it) cruise control?

Could it be the hook up point for the tow hook? The cover may have come off. If that isn't it ,I can't really tell where else you would put it.

If you look closely, you can see the cover for the tow eye hook (passenger side, bumper).

Kaz may have it right though.

Interesting. That is huge, IMHO.

Where is it (radar sensor) on a E65/66/67?

Where is rost when we need him ... ?

No idea.

Would it really be that large? If so, I would not want to stand too near it when it was working!

Looks pretty good, although it really helps that it's in that nice shade of blue (Orient? Mystic?...). Much better than previous spy shots, although I'm not sure about that extra line in the hood.

Like all new BMW designs... they look MUCH better in dark colors. We'd probably all be puking our guts out if these pics were of a silver car.

Looks very aggressive in blue.

I saw a E65 in silver this morning. : puke:

It's ugly enough as it is...

I might be able to live with that. :dunno:

I still think the I-Drive should be optional.

Mathew

The radar sensor for the Active Cruise Control on the E65 is in the front bumper, so that's probably it. I was thinking the sensor would be behind the grille, like Mercedes.

At first glance i thought it was Toledo, but it is too "bright" for it. Definetly not Orient though. My guess would be Mystic

It might be because I've been up for 36 hours+, but doesn't the hoodlines/headlights kinda remind you of a 2004 Accord?
Anyways, looks much better than the previous spy shots.

Point taken. I'll see what I can do to shave it down. I had someone else make it so I'll need some assistance. Gimme a day or 2.:dunno:

The problem is that he is using multiple 16-bit images in the file. I haven't used Shockwave in a few years, but IIRC Shockwave uses vector graphics (like PDF files). It doesn't do well with images that have lots of colors. It excels with solid colored objects and lines/text made in Shockwave (vector-based objects). I think the size of a regular image in a swf file comes out to about the same size as an uncompressed bitmap. Huge.

Hope that helps. I think the concensus re: the size of sig pics here as of a few months ago was something like 40K=tolerable, 20K=very good, 10K=awesome.

Good luck!

If the diesel (which we believe this to be) looks this good, I can't wait to see what the M5 looks like.

Anyone know any firm release dates for that yet?

I have 'high speed Internet service'; I just think a signature nearly 400K in size is totally unnecessary. Just my opinion. :dunno:
