i just realized that someone on bimmerfest might be able to help me wit this problem,
my 325is has had a badddd speaker rattle in the passenger side kick panel for some time now
ive had several audio pros take a look at it and they all said my speaker was going bad, but i replaced my stock (nokia?) speakers with some brand new kenwoods my dad happened to have and the rattle has not dimished at all
its so bad i have to turn my bass down and do what i can with the fader and balance to minimize the noise
inside the car it sounds like a ping pong ball is buzzing around inside the door and from the outside you can hear what sounds like something vibrating against metal, perhaps the actually body of the car
im not sure if this is a common problem and i would love to get some advice on it
thanks everybody

Check for anything that might be in contact with the speaker. Also check for loose or broken mounting parts. If all else fails try a bit of sound deadner.

i had thoroughly checked when i installed the speakers and there was nothing that appeared to be causing the problem so ill probably try the sound deadner
where can i pick some up? and do i just get it inside the panel behind the speaker or what?

You can spend a lot or a little. Fiberglass insulation would work, as would foam mat, carpet, etc., etc. Later e36 uses a formed mat the goes all around rear of speaker, but with hole at rear.

is it evident from the door? or the actual speaker on the kick panel (under the glovebox)?

1)if it is from the speaker,it may be under powered so recheck the specs. and your wiring on it. (just because it fits/same size doesn't mean they are created equal)

2)if the noise is from the door, check for broken glass (or anything loose) that had loosened up from its hiding place during a previous replacement.visual inspection required.

the noise is actually from the speaker/whatever is directly behind it
and the same rattle existed when the factory speakers were still installed so i doubt the speaker is under powered
ill see what i can do about checking inside the door too
ill probably jus settle for some cheap insulation around the speaker
