Took the 650 Coupe in for a repair needed to correct an A/C problem. While being serviced they also updated the software which changed the I-drive screen from brownish color to grayish color.

But what I am noticing now is before, when I pulled into my garage the Parking Sensor was automatic and would tell me how close I was to the wall. Now it is NOT automatic and I have to push the button on in order for this to work. Does anyone know if this was part of the software update ?? Or do I have another problem ??

Thanks

PDC sensors come on when you put the car in reverse. When pulling into a spot the car does not know if you are slowing at a stop light or parking. So you must push the button to activate it when parking forward.

Are you sure it came on automatically in the past or did you use reverse?

My iDrive has not yet been updated, but I can certainly vouch that the sensor activates automatically when I place the car into reverse. I also have this feature on my S4 (activates when in reverse), so it strikes me that you may have a different problem because this feature should occur "automatically".

If you put your car in Reverse and PDC doesn't turn ON automatically, then you have a problem. PDC doesn't engage when slowing down while driving forward, I switch it ON every time i get in my garage since I park forward.

Thanks for the Tips, I park both front and back at different times and probably didn't occur to me that when backing it was automatic versus going forward having to do it manually. I'll pay a little more attention.

Thanks Again

Is there some way to make the PDC display on the LCD screen without the annoying beeping?

No. You can only cycle the display off and on. The beep is on all the time.

I am not sure you would want to either. :dunno: The beep tone is not associated with iDrive but the display is. The is a delay with the display compared to the audible tone.

Watching the display tells me that it is plenty responsive for the task.
The bloody beeping drives me up the wall!

I think this is one of the dealer configurable settings. When I took delivery of my 6er they asked if I wanted it always On, On when in reverse or manual on only.

I would guess your initial setting changed with the update.
