Normally...how long does it take to get off the plane, walk the terminal, go thru passport control, claim baggage and exit the terminal at the Munich airport?:)

It took us about 30 minutes. Most of that was waiting for the bags. -- We were coming from Amsterdam so we didn't have to go through Passport control.

I'd guess a direct flight from the US would be different.

In my experience, they are faster and more efficient than at US airports. Your baggage will generally be on the carousel within 5 minutes of arriving at baggage claim. Passport Control takes less than 15 mins. and to walk outside of the terminal might be another 5mins. Overall, I think 30 minutes is on outer limit of how long it will take.

Our bags were waiting for us when we got to the carousels...passport control was "guten morgan, willkomen to Germany". Cabs were a 3 minute walk away. Easy.

Depends also on whether you are going thru the EU line or the non EU line for immigration. EU line is generally 10x as fast in my experience.

It went pretty quick. Quicker than Paris by far. I would say it goes as quick as a medium size airport does anywhere. (Not that it is small, but Paris, London, Denver are huge, and this isn't.)

Passport check was fast, but it forever to get the bags. I had the 'Priority' tags on my luggage (business class), but those didn't help; we got ours at the very end.

You want a "door-to-door" time sort of speak.......at least 30 minutes on a good day. I waited for 15 min to 20 min just lugagges only. Few more for walking, few more for passort....

On our trip, our plane was late by about an hour. Munich was not the final destination for a lot of people on our flight even though it was full. We first went through passport control which took a bit of time, but not too bad, ~20 mins. When we got down to the baggage claim, there were very few people from our flight picking up their bags. We were able to get our bags and two car seats and head out with very little delay. Overall, a pretty painless experience.

Now, if you are coming in with a number of other international flights that are going through passport control then that is another story. On our flight back we had to fly through Munich and we got stuck in passport control for about 1/2hr due to a lot of people going through. One line literally did not move for 1/2 hr due to one couple having passport problems. We moved out of that line pretty quickly.

Good luck.

We flew into Munich from the USA around 8:30 AM and it took us about 30 min to collect our baggage and get out of the airport.

It took us considerably longer on our way out of Munich airport! Lufthansa has separate counters for US bound flights, and the lines everywhere were long. We also had to go through two security screenings before we got to the departure gate. If you are flying out of Munich to the USA, give yourself plenty of time when you check in for your outbound flight!

In August I flew from FRA to MUC. Luggage was slow, maybe 20+ minutes. Everything else was quick. I took the S8 into Munich.

Surprised at that unless you have an EU passport. That said, both Immigration and the "Nothing to declare" for Customs lines have always been short or non existent for me.

Schengen Treaty. Once you're in the EU within the subset of Schengen countries, no passport control. For everybody.

The second security screening is something that I always forget about. It is usually down near your departure gate after the main/big security screening area.

Last time I went through Frankfurt, there was no second screening for a LH flight to PDX. In my experience, they switch things around and change routines from time to time, probably to minimize the risk of someone taking advantage of a particular process.

Really quick to get through. I send a couple of minutes hitting the cash machine twice, then the 5 of us exited passport control with nobody at all in front of us. It took longer to get processed back in the US at 1:30 in the morning!
