My 2006 x5 optioned with sport pkg, cold weather, premium pkg, comfort seats, 19" wheels, was totaled two weeks ago. Now looking for another but have also gotten into the 530 xi and the 530 xi sport wagon. 530 xi is giving me second thought on the x5. Any thoghts?

If you are having second thoughts, then check out the new XC90 V8 Sport.

IMHO the e60 looks like a$$. Station Wagon is even worse. Kinda like a dingleberry infested a$$.

Juvenile...yes I know.

I have both a 2001 x5 3.0 and a new 2008 535xiT wagon which I did ED in May. The new 300hp twin turbo makes all the difference. I have heard they will introduce that engine into the X5 later this model year. That engine would make the X5 much better, and could make the 4.4 unnecessary. If you want a sporty ride, look at the 535xi wagon - fast and much less trucky than the X5.

Am I right that a new 530xi is about the same price as a low mileaged '04 or '05 4.8is? If yes, go for a CPO'd high performance, aggressive looking X5 4.8is (with 20" fat wheels standard :D) over the very mild-mannered looking 530xi. And as far as the 530xi wagon... it's a stationwagon, 'nuf said!!

Believe it or not, the XC90 doesn't even offer a nav unit as an option! That's what eliminated it for me.

The xc90 does, in fact, offer the nav as an option....

Thank you, I stand corrected. I was basing my statement on the fact that I went to a Volvo dealer lot last weekend that had about 30 XC90s, yet none of them had nav including the loaded ones.

BMW 530 xit has lot of better features and options that X5 and VolvoXC 90 do not.
ACC and Stop n Go, better mpg. Compare thes features on Edmunds/cars.com sites
But I prefer SUVs with moderate ground clearance

I sold my X5 3.0 for an XC90 V8.

One of the biggest mistakes in my automotive buying career. :bawling:

The XC90 V8 has an incredible engine (made by Yamaha), but everything else about it makes it feel like an overgrown, unreliable, front-wheel-drive, station wagon. Gobs of understeer in every corner...

Note: Ours is AWD, but it sends more than 90% of the torque to the front wheels nearly all the time. The torque steer sucks. In the rain, ours will start to spin the front tires before the backs hook up.

My wife and I can't wait until October when the lease is up. X5 4.8 here we come...

No way....

BMWs: engines, mpg, styles, rides are much superior
I prefer BMW to any car/SUV in the same class.....
