I ordered a 550 last week. The PCD date I got was Jan 4. The dealer says if I pass and take normal delivery, their best guess is delivery the week of Dec 10. Car is currently in 150 status.

Is it worth the 3 extra weeks of wait and the boring 2200 mile I-40 drive back to the west coast?

There are several things in life you don't wish for on your death bed:
1. ...that you got a smaller TV.
2. ...that you worked more.
3. ...that you passed up on the opportunity to do PCD or ED because you didn't want to wait an extra few weeks.

Another option is to attend one of the driving schools, and take regular delivery in December.

If you can do it, it's definitely worth the wait. And 3 weeks isn't really that long in the scheme of things. Just think of all the sights to see on the trip home as well. I say do it, but of course I'm biased.

You can fly home and have the car shipped back. You have to pay for the shipping and add another wait for your car.

Is it worth the 3 extra weeks of wait and the boring 2200 mile I-40 drive back to the west coast? That drive is only boring on I-40! Find the some of the best roads in the country just minutes from the delivery center in NC, SC, and TN- Including Deals Gap (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps_dragon_road.html) with 318 curves in 11 miles.

On your way back to Cali, find Highway 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=Sedona,+AZ&daddr=Flagstaff,+AZ&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=57.510723,78.574219&ie=UTF8&ll=34.949554,-111.678085&spn=0.471637,0.613861&z=11&om=1). Desert floor to mountain altitude in 30 miles.

Those are just two of the reasons I would drive! There's plenty more.
