Greetings.

I am a long-time e30 admirer who just recently was able to purchase his first BMW. It is a 1986 325es which belonged to a friend but has been sitting abandoned for several months. It needs work.

I'm trying to connect the fuel line to the fuel rail. The guy I bought it from said there should be a metal line, just like the one the hose connects to on the other side (near the steering column). I told him the only thing I see is the hole (first pic), he said not to put it there. He said there should be something in front of it. Obviously there is a part missing, I don't know if it's that part or what. I've also looked at the Haynes and the FSM on this site but the pictures aren't too clear. Any help would be appreciated.

As you can see from the other pictures, there is still a lot of dirt after several washings.:D

(ps: I have the airbox, just removed it to put in the alternator)

Thanks.
