My new trans is in @ my dealer. They are replacing it because sometimes under heavy Accel. 2nd gear would grind. Several people had this issue and had their transmissions replaced by BMW. I asked my dealer if they would do a aftermarket clutch for me and they said Yes.

So I was wondering what Aftermarket options are out for the Z4M.

Are there any stage 2 kits out. A grippier clutch with a lighter flywheel. I might be going F/I soon too so this would be a good idea to just get it done and over with.

Thanks.

I have an 02 M roadster. So the engine is the same, but I have 5 spd vs. your 6 speed. I installed a UUC unit. It had an 11 lb single mass flywheel with an clutch out of an earlier generation M3 with a sprung hub. The clutch/flywheel combo cost about what BMW get for the flywheel.
This is in contrast with current BMW OEM units which use the dual mass flywheel with solid hub clutch. With the lighter flywheel you may notice some more noise asnd some resonance when you get in the upper rev ranges. Also easier to stall
I wouldn't go with much lighter than the 11 lbs unit for street use. I just wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.

BTW, the engine spins up quite bit quicker now..
