View Full Version : Quick! Help! Windows Wont Close!!!

hey guys. so i was driving around with my buddy today. and i opened up all my windows to get in some fresh air instead of using the ac. but anyway so we park the car and i try to roll up my windows but the lights for the window switches dont work... i have a 1993 325i so the window switches are all by the shift knob or watever u call that thing. its in the middle of the car. so all the lights went out and i cant roll them up. i tried restarting the car like a 1000 times it wont work. has ayone had this problem????

ROFL! That's a great welcome into E36 ownership, and VERY typical of the random ass problems you'll encounter.

Now, if the lights in the switches are out too, I vote fuse. But, it could be your "Comfort Relay". Try the sunroof, will it work? Power seats? If not, probably a failed comfort relay, but check your fuses first!

Maybe I misunderstood the problem..sounded like you where saying that the car wont start either? You did say that you tried restarting the car. lol

+1 Check the fuses first.

lol well the car starts and ya the sunroof works... its just that the lights for the windows are turned off and they wont roll back up lol. uhh my dad checked the fuses and said they were ok he says its some kind of relay or something... but he wants to check a service manual

does anyone know where i can download a service manual? or a repair book for a 1993 325i... i can buy it from the store but why waste $50 when i can get one off the internet for free =] does anyone have a link or something like that

if you are planning on performing maintenance on your bimmer, then dropping $50 on a Bentley manual (i.e. bimmer bible) is not waste my friend. This is especially so for all of the cubic a$$ ton of random problems you will have (like your sunroof decides to not work when it is about to rain...yeah happened to me)

And if your dad is sure the fuses are good, then I vote comfort relay for sure. Sorry!
