If I choose to do a 6-cylinder in my 318, does anyone know where the best place to find a motor is and how much they generally cost? Aside from the obvious ECU and sub frame difference, what else will have to be changed if I wanted to drop a 6-cylinder in my car.:dunno:

You can get a good used engine for about 500-600 dollars. Comes with 90 day warranty.

to be honest! its not worth it. you get a 328i for the same price getting new engine and taking time.

I agree with Rich, unless you are really attached to your car. To me, my car is part of me. When the engine dies, the car gets a new one, the car doesn't get sold. Sure, it's monetarily inefficient, but the emotional attachment isn't something you can add into a benefit-cost analysis.

What's the point of putting the 6 cylinder anyways, if you want a 6 cylinder get a 325is or 328is, why do you want a swap anyways? The 318is feels more light and has more spirited feel to it.
