If I've requested to have accessories installed on my car at the performance center, how can I get confirmation that this will happen? Also, do I pay for it at the Performance center or do I pay my dealer?

Thanks!

Your CA sets everything up and collects from you when your car is billed out.The dealer then pays the PC.

I know we spoke on the phone about this about the same day as your post, but so that everyone knows.. accessory requests must be made at least two weeks in advance of delivery. This allows time for parts ordering and installation.

Confirmation of the order is then sent via fax to the center which has the billing info for the center to pay. This is essentially the confirmation. Otherwise, the CA will get notification on the comfirmation fax that the part is on back order and cannot be installed.

Please note that on models where floor mats don't come in the car from the factory like all 3 Series, Z4's, X5's.. mats need to be ordered.

I checked with a local dealer who will be assisting with the car I ordered, a 135i blue water/black leather, about floor mats. The dealer indicated I could buy them at the Performance Center. Based upon the messages here, that does not seem to be accurate. Looks like I need to go back to the dealer and order them from the dealer and pay for them there for delivery at the PC. Anyone have any experience with being able to buy floor mats at the PC. Thanks.

We are not set up to sell parts and accessories (other than the clothing and keychains they have in the gift shop) directly to customers. We also do not have the capability of having every part in inventory. The only way to guarantee that you will have mats is to have your CA order them from our service dept. They will charge the dealer and order the required accessories so they will be available for your vehicle. Plus, the mats would already be installed before your delivery and you wouldn't have to worry about anything but enjoying your new BMW

If you want floor mats for your drive home, I would highly recommend having your CA order them for you. If you don't mind driving home without them, just go ahead and buy them from your local BMW Center and put them in when you return home.

Got it. Thanks. Looking forward to delivery in July after I get home from the desert. Same procedure if we want the clear bra applied to?

You got it. Any accessory must be ordered prior to two weeks before the delivery date. I would suggest even sooner for the clear bra.

See you in July

On the clear bra - which brand (is it the 3M clear bra or the Venture Shield) does the company you all use at the PC, install? Also, what level of coverage on the hood is the version they install (this would be for an 08 M3).

Thanks in advance!

Pre-cut kit that is provided to BMW from 3M. Click Here (http://accessories.bmwusa.com/ItemView.aspx?modelId=217&categoryId=19&productCategoryId=&menuId=0&subItemId=1&productId=172) to visit the Accessory section on BMWUSA.com to see a sample on a 3 series. We just hire an installer and they have to use the BMW kits which are not as complete as some the custom installers use.

My dealer offered to throw in a set of the all weather ones for free after I got my car home from the PCD when I asked if he would order a set for me at the PDC.

I woulda been nice to have them in the car when I picked it up, but I bought a set at Wal-Mart for $5.00 that worked until I got home.

Debating on the clear bra from the PC. What do you think you will do. I think I would prefer to have the entire hood done but that does not seem to be included in the kit from BMW but I would prefer to have it done prior to driving home and have it done locally. With my luck it would get nicked up on the way home.

As far as floor mats, the dealer I ordered the car from agreed to reduce the price of the vehicle by the price of the floor mats ($130) so that I can purchase them from where ever.

Tough decision on clear mask...

I'm doing the PC delivery for my X5 on May 8th, and decided to have the mask installed there to save my front end on the long drive home.

I haven't been a big fan of the clear mask, but believe it's better than pit marks. It can always be removed later.

Can't wait to meet Jonathan and the rest of the PC team next week.

Tough decision on clear mask...

I've got it (not the BMW kit, but a local custom install of the 3M clear mask) and I'm still finding rock ding's where the clear bra is not covering the paint in the front. Little 1/8" areas, but the rocks seem to find it

This is my dilemma as well. To get full hood coverage at home and risk the 1200 mile drive without something on the car, or go with the partial coverage solution at the PC. Maybe I will just completely wrap my car in tin foil and get the double benefit of protecting myself from aliens trying to read my mind and spy on my car :p

When I took delivery on 4/3 there was a gentleman there picking up an M3, (very nice). He was so concerned about getting dings that he covered 3/4 of his hood with blue and yellow painters tape that the PCD gave him. I wish I would have taken a picture of this because it was really strange, but I guess it served it's purpose. I wouldn't have done that to my car, to each his own. It was just too weird looking.

I guess you could ask for painters tape. :dunno:

Please don't come here asking for the tape. He brought his own but didn't realize how much it was going to take. I asked the paint shop if I could borrow a roll so he could finish, but I don't think they will let me do that for everyone.

To do the job, you'll most likely need 3 to 4 large rolls of the blue painters tape you can find anywhere they sell paint.

As Keith said, you'll definetely draw a lot of attention driving home with the car taped up in the front :D

Thanks

But Jonathan, I ordered the special BMW BTM (blue tape mask) for install at the PC!

See you on May 8th. Hope my X5 has a blue front end - not.

Don't worry... we ran out of blue tape, but the fluorescent pink tape that just came in. I'm thinking we should go beyond expectations and wrap the entire vehicle :bigpimp:

See you on the 8th

BTW... if anyone is coming to Bimmerfest, stop by and say hello to Donnie and myself at our booth.

Jonathan,

Can a customer order parts on-line from a BMW dealer and have them shipped to the PC for installation on the car prior to PC delivery?

Which accessories are commonly installed by the PDC?
IE: Alarms, Sat Radio etc

Are there any of the Factory Options that can be post-manufacture installed by the PDC?
IE: iPod/USB, Sat Radio (is this different than the accessory installation above), Rear Window Shade?

Is there an Installed Price list available?

---
I just ordered a 335i E92 that's only 2 weeks out from delivery at the PDC, so I'm rushed (as well as hyped!)

Unfortunately not.

Accessories must be ordered through the selling dealer in order for them to be installed at the PC. There is an accessory request form that they have to fill out, sign and then fax it to us.

Check out this post: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270824&highlight=accessory+list

Most factory options (window shade, USB, etc...) cannot be installed at the Performance Center. Sat radio is the only exception I can think of and the only difference from the factory option is it costs more.

Thanks.
I was hoping some would be an easy bolt-in, plug-in options (like the back window shade - really would be nice for a southern boy like myself!)

And I was told by one CA that the iPod/USB could be retro-added by any dealer, but it would block usage of the CD changer.

Just an FYI...

The dealer installed iPod adapter is not the same as the iPod/USB option from the factory. The dealer installed option comes out of the glove box and is plugged into the CD changer port. The then have to go into the CD changer menu and choose CD1 for "artist", CD2 for "songs" (may not be exactly that but along those lines). I have never experienced this, but have been told it has a limit to the amount of songs it can process.

The USB option from the factory shows everything on the screen just like the iPod (Playlist, Artist, Albums, Songs...). There are no limitations that I'm aware of and you can also use flash drives to play music with if you don't want to leave your iPod in the vehicle all the time.

Thanks for 'da facts.

How about installation of 'other accessories', like this one:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/plush/9fc6/?cpg=73H
(ThinkGeek's Flux Capacitor Replica)

Now all I need to do is get on eBay and find a Mr. Fusion, ... or Sam's Club a WHOLE lot of AA-batteries.
