My girlfriend was driving down the road when the car stalled. She coasted into a lot and tried to start it back up but it wouldn't turn over. You can hear the starter turning, I can hear the fuel pump in the trunk, but it just won't turn over. We checked the fuses and battery and both are fine. We even tried using jumper cables for the heck of it. Any ideas?

p.s. oh yeah, there is a half a tank of gas.

Thanks

D

More info:

She said the car smelled like gas for the past month. Fuel filter? Charcoal cannister?

Probably a bad fuel line at that age. Follow the smell.

I pulled the fuel line to the fuel pressure regulator and turned it over, boy did it pump out fuel! Does that mean the fuel rail is getting proper fuel? There was oil coating the main hose to the air intake though.

I replaced all the plugs since they looked pretty caked with corrosion. still, nothing.

If a you have a compression gauge, that will rule out internal damage.

Next is to start checking resistance values on O2 sensor, AFM, Coolant temp. Probably need manual for this stuff.
