Thanks for the Blog link. I guess even the most experienced EDer has the occasional Nav misdirection. Ah, well, glad you avoided finding out if the BMW was capable of floating like the VW Bug was heralded to be capable of doing. I note your car arrives at the New York Port on November 19th. Any chance you will be able to be there in person to watch it as it is transported through customs and the VPC? That would make a nice addition to the Blog reporting to see some photos of what happens during that Black Hole sequence in the European Delivery process. ;)

I agree that it would be great if Jonathan can track his car through the Customs/VPC/Redelivery process and reveal what happens to ED vehicles as they pass through the "Black Hole"! It would help to demystify what goes on within VPC, and help ED'ers understand why some cars seem to go through the redelivery process faster than others.

I actually covered a good part of that in my article in the Roundel over a year ago but I will also cover that in the blog.

This may sound stupid or you may have already answered this question but 'What do you do for a living? Do you work for BMW/BMWCCA? How does your job allow you to travel to such events like the Welt opening, etc? Do you just take vacation days when necessary?

Another question, I would like to participate in some capacity with BMWCCA. How can I do that?

No, not stupid at all. I am the chief analyst at a small research firm, Basex (http://www.basex.com), which focuses on issues in the knowledge economy that large companies are facing (such as the problem of Information Overload (http://www.google.com/search?hl=de&q=basex+and+information+overload&btnG=Suche&lr=)).

I can work from just about anywhere so as long as I have my ThinkPad with me, I am fairly well connected. And yes, some of it is vacation days.

That would be great. What part of the country are you in? There are dozens of very active chapters of the Club and also many national activities. You should try to find something that is compatible with your interests (for example, I like to write so I write articles for the Club).

I'm on the East Coast (NY for now, NJ in the future)

Is there somebody I should contact to figure out what's available?

Both NY and NJ have active chapters. First step would be to attend a few events and get to know the chapter people.

Send me a PM to continue the conversation as we are going off topic.
