I found this site for battery replacement for Duaralast 49-DL with detail pictures.
Is there a better way to make this battery fit snug without any wood spacer? Can we put a plastic spacer at the bottom to raise the battery?

The cross brace has an adjustable plate for accomadating different size batteries (pic 3 and 4 from the link you posted).
On my E39, there is a hold down clamp on the side of the battery.

What you don't want to do is raise the battery higher than the tray it is sitting in...Not good...

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help with the same question about the battery. I read all of the posts here, and figured I'd give it a shot. I brought my old bmw stock battery to AutoZone to test it, and it read "Bad Battery". I bought a 49 dl battery as recommended by so many of you. I put it right into my car at home and it was the easiest thing to replace. My car started right up, no problems. The battery fit perfectly, and I didn't need to use any spacers at all. Thanks again!
