I just purchased some winter tires and rims: Blizzak LM-22 RFT on ASA JH3 17" rims.
I found these used locally so picked them up yesterday after checking on the tirerack website to make sure they would fit my car (2007 335i sedan with Sport Package)
The garage was able to mount them with no problem, but once they were tightened up, the front wheels would no longer turn, there was not enough space between the front brake calipers and the rims.
Luckily for me, the person I bought them from was understanding and I returned them, but I am going to stick to 18" rims now. The front rotors and calipers on the 335 are so huge I'm not risking trying another 17" rim unless it's from BMW.
Gary, I'll probably just call tirerack to get a set of 18" snows, but can you comment on these ASA JH3's? Has anyone else had a problem with these rims or other 17" rims on there 335i's?

were they off an E9X or an E46?
if they were off an E46, my guess is that the spokes were rubbing on the caliper?
offset for an E9X is 30-35mm depending on the rim.
offset for an E46 is 40-47mm
i have 17" rial salernos, offset of 30, and they fit fine.
i'm guessing the seller sold you a set of E46 rims. my E46 330i has ET40 JH3s that DO NOT fit my 335i without a spacer.

What offset were they? There are many fitments of this wheel out there and only the 32mm offset and 20mm offset versions will fit.

thanks guys, I didn't realize the same ASA JH3 wheels come in different variations of offsets.
the rims were off a 06 Z4, so I just looked up the offset of what he probably had and see it is 40mm, so this goes to what you say, the 40mm offset will not work on the 335i. I guess I didn't do all my homework before trying this.
