Other mighty important tidbits:
The car will, as a matter of fact, be introduced to the
US market in October of this year...
We dealers will be receiving our official ordering guides
by the end of May!
"The new 5 Series will again be the performance benchmark
for midsize performance sedans. Meaningful innovations will
deliver even greater driving pleasure; increased rear legroom
and trunk space will enhance its practical appeal for prospects".
To name just a few product highlights:
Three engine choices: two inline-6-cylinder with 2.5L
and 3.0L, delivering 184- and 225-hp and the 4.4L
valvetronic V-8 known from the 745i/Li with 325hp
6-speed manual and optional 6-speed STEPTRONIC
automatic transmissions for all models
Active steering and anti-roll stabilization and run flat
tires in the optional sport package
Increased trunk space, improved rear leg room
Bi-xenon headlights with adaptive light control
and much more!

The techinal merits sound very nice of course!
Dunno on the aesthetics but I'll hold judgment until I actually see a real pic of what it really looks like. :)
Then I'll bite my tongue until I see one in person! :D
Then I'll need to wait until year 2 or 3 as they work some of the bugs out. I should need a new car by then!

Like the E65, I think that after awhile, the E60 will grow on most people.
I like 90% of it; still having some trouble with those headlights!
I can't wait to see official Touring pics ... I would love a 540dT! :D

I just hope BMW redoes the front end, just like they are redoing the 7er. I was in buddies dealership and people were buying the new 7 leftr and right, the thing is FUGLY imo.
I have been a fan of BMW for 2 1/2 decades, sorry Quandts I am Audi LOL.

Jon -- when it says "available" in october, does that mean orders can be taken well before, with delivery around Oct.? I ask b/c I'm planning an ED trip for Sept., and might be interested in a twofer if the 5 were available.
