ABS warning light coming on intermittantly

Hi, I have a 1995 325i Convertible and my ABS warning light comes on intermittantly. The last time it was on i tested the brakes and the front locked up, so i asume the ABS is not working. As yet I have not tested the brakes when the light is out. Any IDEAS please!! ?

You have the same size tires? Im guessing its a wheel speed sensor faulty or dirty. You are certain it is ABS and not ASC? Either way since it is your last line of defense in braking,take it to a shop to scan it for faults.You dont want to be in a situation where you need ABS to save your life.That my friend (your life) is priceless.
