OK, after 8 months on Toyo RA-1's, I reluctantly said good-bye to those wonderful rolls of rubber that sang a tune of ultimate traction and scoffed at the suggestion of using DSC.
The Toyo RA-1's were the best tires, bar none, that I've ever... ever... owned - for traction at least. For lifespan, well; 8 months tells the story there. I left the Tire Man with my plain ol' (Brand New) Proxes 4's, and blipped the throttle a little... DSC light came on! What? I almost forgot the car would do that, with how little the light ever came on with the R-comp's.
For the blissful greater part of a year, I got used to being able to throttle hard from a stop and hardly even trip DSC going into second. As for changing gears to third? Not even a chirp. Now? ugh. Now, as when I got the car, DSC will come on with a hard change to 3rd. I'm certain that 400hp is too much for standard rubber.
My recommendation: All M-cars should equip R-compound tires, temperatures (and budgets) permitting.
