Hello: My name is Phillip I always wanted a bimmer and finally landed a 1985 318i. I'll need a lot of help getting it up to par. The power windows have failed from the switches, the tape player doesn't work and also the heater blower has a short; blows when it wants to. I would like to upgrade brakes and suspension. 140,000 miles and runs like a scalded cat a fine automobile. Someday I'll be able to purchase a newer model. Happy Holidays!!!

welcome aboard. sounds like you have a lot of ambition. my best suggestion is get a repair manual and some basic (metric) handtools.
switches were a common failure on power window systems. they all should be interchangeable, but the driver side may have the one touch down feature. been a long time since i've played with one of these.
the blower motor sounds sorta like the resistor may have a crack in it. these are sometimes called "credit cards", and plug into the blower motor under the hood by the front cowl. not too hard to replace. don't think they're too pricy either. check around.
