Gary,
My wife's 2006 X3 has 20,000 miles on the OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL-42s in the 235-50/18 size (we have the optional 18" wheels but not the sport package). Tread depth is roughly 5/32" - 6/32".
The EL-42s don't seem to have a good reputation. Also, we had our first snow of the season yesterday and my wife said the wheels were slipping a little on the same side roads for which I did not have trouble. I am thinking of replacing the EL-42s with an upgraded all season tire. Three choices from the Tirerack web page that currently have my attention are:
1. Pirelli Scorpion
2. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
3. Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S
If I replace the EL-42s with any of these three choices, do you think there will be a noticeable difference in the X3's ride, steering feel, cornering, traction, etc.?
Of these three replacement choices, how would you compare their performance on:
- snow
- wet roads
- dry roads
Thanks
Bruce
