I have not seen any snow here yet but rain is not an issue and we get a lot of it. Even with wet leaves all over the street. There are different wheel and tire combinations and I have do not have the 20"

Yeah, here in Texas it hasn't done much either. Occasionally, (I'm glad we have spell check on this) we do get the white stuff or more of sleet than snow. This will be my first winter with the X5 and want to know what to expect as far as how it handles in certain conditions.

Handles great - especially with snow tires.

Big J, not getting snow here in central PA - yet. My experience was last year during several pretty severe storms. The X5 rocks! Just make sure you don't get too enthusiastic in bad weather with summer tires. All season, definitely better but snows will allow you to go through anything.

Up here in the GWN we get lots of snow. I have Scorpion tyres (as distinct from tires) and the truck goes great through any kind of snow and slush. Be aware however that nothing stops as well as it goes, snow tyres or not. Don't get too confident just because it goes like a tractor.

Nice!!!

We had some heavy rain here and the X5 went through puddles like it was dry. On non-AWD cars the steering wheel would jerk a bit when hitting puddles or try to hydroplane and it just went right on through just as easy and nice as dry pavement.

Sweet!

We had just over a foot in the NE yesterday and I am happy with the performance. I have an 08 3.0si with sports package so it came with the Michelin Latitude Tour HP M+S tires. If you drive a bit too aggressively, the front wheels will push. Also, traction control is not aggressive so it will allow the truck snake a bit before intervening and getting things back on track. I also tried driving with DTC switched on the truck seemed to perform a bit better

Yes, I did have fun in the snow

I have a very steep driveway and just traded in my Acura TL last week for the '08 X5. We got 6 inches of snow here yesterday in St. Louis and the X5 got up my driveway with no problems last night abut 2 hours into the snowstorm. I would guess there was 2 inches of snow in the driveway along with some sleet and ice. I've got the standard 18" all weather tires.

Hi there,

I've got a 08 x5 with the twenty inch tires/wheels with the sport package. Although we don't get alot of snow in virginia, wondering if anyone has used these tires in the snow. The x5 broshure says these tires are "not recommended for the snow" .

Any input would be appreciated.

I have the 20 inch sports and we just had 10 inches of snow.... It didnt perform masterfully BUT it did the job.....

I bought an 03' X5 back in August. I love it and how it handles with AWD. Since I'm down south, I was wondering what it drives like in elements other than rain?

Gotcha,

It handles fine. Depending on what types of tires you have will be the factor. I have the 20 inch all seaons so they are pretty good... It performed good in 10 inches of snow...

Has anyone ever been asked to help pull another stuck vehicle.. or you know.. someone slid into a ditch and needed a tug to get back on a good surface?

AWD-xi helps in all seasons and on all type of roads, IMHO
I prefer n buy active AWD(any version) because the the cars/SUVs run in FWD/RW and changes to AWD as needed.
