View Full Version : Winter Wheel Fit Problem - '07 335i Sport Package

Based on others' experiences and posts I ordered 17 inch winter wheels (replica BMW style 135) for my 335i sedan with sport package that came with 18 inch wheels. The installer indicated that they could not get the the 17 inch wheels to fit. They hit the caliper around the wheel. They didn't hit the spoke, so it does not appear to be an offset issue.
Any advice? Has anyone fitted a 17 inch replica wheel on a 335i with sport package? If so, what style? Do I need to go to 18 inch?
Thanks,
Beans

where did you get your replicas? I have an old set of 17's that are currently on my 07 335i with winter tires, not sure which kind they are though...

I ran into the same exact problem today. I ordered 17" OE Performance-made replicas from a local tire shop, and they will not fit over the brake calipers, even though the manufacturer and supplier say they are supposed to fit/made for my car. After spending the past several weeks trying to find a 17" setup that I like, I'm ready to go with 18s. I expect to get my options/price quotes tomorrow. However, like the OP, if anyone has some insight on 17" replicas that will actually fit, I'd love to hear about it!!!

From all the reading I've been doing over the past week on this, the only 17" wheels that definitively work are the ASA Sport Edition A7.
If you are going 18" tires you are not doing runflats, right?

Correct, I am not doing runflats, although I think there might be some 18" runflats available. BTW, I am now having trouble finding 18" replicas with a "fitment guaranty" from a distributor. Unreal. At the rate I'm going, it will be spring before I find a winter setup that I like and that works.

This saga is basically over. I ended up with 17" style 201 replicas with 20 mm offset. As you will read in other posts, 30 mm is ideal. 20 mm will work. But, risk rubbing with 225's. So, my original 225/45 Dunlop snows could have been a problem. I wanted to put this issue to bed. So, I ended up with 205/50 Pirelli runflat snow tires.
The wheels look good, similar style to the stock 162's. They sink in around the lugs/hub, which is the only real difference. On the tires, I really liked the Dunlops on my E46. But, beggers can't be choosers and the Pirellis were all I could land in 205/50 this late in the season. More on them after the next snow. ;)
I got sensors from Gary at Tire Rack and I'm happy and good to go.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
