You can still buy the BB8700c directly from RIM or one of its suppliers. Upside of the 8700c is that it works just fine with the bimmer (mine loads 300+ address book entries), has a thumbwheel (instead of that silly button in the middle of the unit), and is tested, simple and easy to use. Downside...no SD card, no GPS.
My 8700c wont pair with my car. I have no clue why, and I've done all the updates I could to my blackberry. It's real annoying.
My primary voice phone is a razr, I only use my blackberry for email. I had wanted to drop the second line and just swap out SIMs as I need each device so I don't have to pay for unlimited data X 2 and whatnot.. but if I have to swap phones each time I get into the car it's not exactly worth the money.
As I type this though, I am doing the math on how much I am paying extra and it's cheaper for me to buy a brand new blackberry. Anyone want to buy my 8700c that I can't get to pair with my auto? ;)

I had trouble pairing my 8830 from Verizon. To fix that problem I had to completly reinstall the phones software. Now it works great.

Interesting. I paired my Blackberry 8830 instantly with no problems right out of the box. Perhaps I have a more current firmware on either my 535i or my blackberry?
