I was thinking of getting a friend's 2002 x5. Since it has a great ride, perfect ground clearance, and it handles great. But what bothers me is that it's a 6 year old car and there might be some problems later on when I get it. I just want to ask the opinion for those who own a 2002 x5, if it has given you any problems.

Outside of window regulators no other issues to speak of in 100,000 miles.

Depends on how one defines "problems"...if you do a search you will
find a litany of glitches, probs., fixes, etc. But, normal on a fanatic

You didn't mention mileage, but some things to consider at that car's
-water pump, coolant res., valley pan gasket if it's a V8, window regs
as mentioned, front suspension items if hammered in an urban/potholed
environ., brakes & rotors if not done in past 20-40k miles, etc.
Even though it is a friend, if you are serious, I would have the "key run"
at any BMW stlr to see service history, etc.
And, a little reading here, via search, will give you a broad info base of
fixes and info...
They are amazing cars, but without any safety net of an ext warranty,
they are costly to fix, if major. A good indie BMW garage would be a
