i have a1986 528e ,it would not start ,so i checked and found it had no spark, checked all possibilities had a bad fuel pump relay, installed relay no start,so i removed relay and jumped it so the fuel pump would run then i accidently made the center pin on the relay hot and the car started when my buddy was cranking it,then i checked voltage when cranking with the relay installed on the back side the red/blue wire had 3.8 volts and the car would not run, when i jumped the wire with 12volts it ran what is the problem, will the jumper cause damage elsewhere in the circuit, what can cause this

Have you checked your main relay? THis one feeds power to the ECU which in turns send the signal to the coil. This one should be replaced too. If this is not it then check for the reference sensors. There are 2 of them and the testing procedure is outlined in the Bentley's manual.

Good Luck!
