I put a Dinan cold air induction, cat-back exhaust & Stage II ECU software, which kicked the HP up 16, torque up 13 ft/lb (according to Dinan). I'm in Santa Fe, which is 7000' above sea level, so I'm paying the "altitude tax' on HP. The increase is noticeable, though not dramatic.

I would be reluctant to do anything to my X3 before the warranty ran out. Just on the chance it would give BMW a reason to deny a claim on anything they felt was affected by the mod. Dinan I know has their own warranty so if you deal with a BMW/Dinan outlet then things are probably OK. Unfortunately here in CA the wonderful and omnipotent CARB has decreed that virtually nothing can be done to the engine. Some (not all) cold air inductions and the cat back exhausts are OK but nothing on the engine management systems (chips). OTOH forced air (superchargers) can be installed if they meet the CARB guidelines. A blown X3 anyone?
