My suddenly stopped working. I thought it was the battery, but now at my Autozone they a battery remote tester. You basically press the button and if the test receives your signal your battery is good to go. So I next tried to re-initialize and that did not work. Solution and problem was the central locking fuse located in rear compartment above the battery. It was fuse #53 on my 01 and it is a 7.5 fuse.
If you replace fuse and it still blows then you have a fuel acuator problem. Lock doors manually and if it does not lock then that is your problem. Just unplug (located to the left of the fuse box...you will see the manual green release cord coming out of it) and replace fuse.
You may have to re-initialize the key. (instructions borrowed from a previous thread)
Get in and close all doors
Turn car on and off quickly and within 5 secs.....
depress and hold the unlock button....
press the lock button 3 times
release the unlock button
You should hear the doors lock as a sign of completion.
This saved me the $250 + fee for getting a new key from dealership!
