Hi all. My 1996 Z3 Roadster convertible top was replaced recently and now both sides at the front of the top where the window meets the seal leak. Plus the trunk sometimes has water coming in now.

It is the worst when the car is not moving, just sitting in the rain.

The real FLOOD comes from the passenger side, and I've located the leak spot (on both sides) to be at the point where the two window seals come together near the A frame window top. If it rains persistently a large bath towel can become ENTIRELY saturated within half a day!

Anyway, could someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send a picture of how the window seals are supposed to be aligned so that there aren't leaks?

I've tried putting Vaseline along the rubber seal in the past and it sort of helped.

Thanks so much!

Adjusting the hook/latch worked for me when I had the same problem. There's an allen screw you can loosen, so that you can screw the hook in an out. One full turn did the job on mine.

It seems to matter greatly that the rubber pieces exactly align at the point where the window top meets the rubber. Otherwise, on my top, there is a very slight misalignment between other areas of the rubber, which doesn't seem to matter.

Hope that helps. I'm near neither my camera nor my car right now.

Peace,
Sarah

Hi Sarah. Yes, I had read through your previous posts and it seemed like you had the same kind of issue.
I don't really understand how the alignment needs to be. Maybe you can take a picture sometime and then it will make more sense.
In the meantime, I'm going to get some NAPA Sil-Glyde stuff and see if that might help.

Hi,

Here are some pics for you, including one (the last one) with the top not latched, so that you can see the alignment.

I doubt these photos will really do you any good, though. I suspect I may have found a common cause of leaks between the a-pillar seals, and I'm putting this information in a new post, very soon to follow. But for now, here are the photos you requested:

Hope that helps!
