lifter noise/engine rattle???

Just wondering if anyone in here has had a similar problem. It's kind of hard to describe but at around 3000 rpm and higher when accelerating, I am hearing a rattling sound coming from the engine. I don't know if it is lifter noise, it's hard to describe but it kind of sounds like a diesel engine - slightly......

Any thoughts???

higher octane gas maybe?

Fill up with a tank of quality gas, 91 octaine. also just for safe measures check your oil.

There were several engines offered for the cars that this forum supports; care to give us a clue as to what you're talking about?

This is on a 2007 Z4 MC. 1500mi on the odo and just had the 1200 mile service completed about a week ago.

higher mileage Z3 i'd have said Vanos unit...low milage Z4 I'd say let the Dealer take a look
