Why on earth do they tell you to take off the whole spindle and rotor assembly, when all you have to do is unbolt the shock from the back of the spindle? I followed the book on the first side, and cricked my back getting that whole assembly out and back in. The 2nd side I just unbolted the shock and pulled it out. Didn't even have to break the tie-rod loose.
:dunno:

thats all we do is remove the bolt that u are talking about. Cuts the time down allot by doing that.

Perhaps you can both be more specific... If you have pics that would be helpful... I keep putting off my front struts but I think this weekend will be the time to do it....

well behind the front spindle where the strut mounts there is a bolt that connects that part. Undo that large bolt and couple of small ones..

I will take pics tomorrow, but if you look on the back of the spindle, the shock is bolted on by 3 bolts, 2 from the inside out, one front to back with a nut. Just remove these bolts, remove the 3 nuts from the shock tower inside the engine bay, and pull the shock out.
Be warned though, the two lower bolts have red permanent Loc-Tite on them. They take a bit of ummff to get out.
