I may be a new owner, tomorow or very soon. In a strange twist of fate involving about 3 months of shopping for cars, im back to the first car i ever considered... the e36 M3. Im sure theres a "im new" thread or whatever, but I didnt see one specifically in here and I think thisis where im gonna post the most, so id like to get to know my fellow e36 owners.
I did have a question coming into this though - I live in the US so I plan on turboing it since we dont get that many ponies stock. Usuaully I would s/c but turbos give more power for the money, and a full turbo kit from a reliable company should be good and safe as long as its got a big intercooler and not too much boost. Any recomendations? I think ESS still makes them...
My story is, in short - I had a 00 camry LE V6 and it was a decent little car. It was faster than most people thought, but handling was sloppy. I got to thinking - ill just trade it in. Initially I had my heart set on early E46s - and eventually tried for an E46 M3. Limited by funds, I fell in love with the E36 M3. Then I fell in love with the mazda RX-8, and a few others until my car got totalled by some woman who cut me off. I just got the check for it a week or so ago, and a M3 appeared in the newspaper alongside an 02 330Ci convertible. Im going to test drive them both - but I think my heart is already decided.
