1.) Is a 5sp 98 328is for 5k a good deal? w/ 130k on th odo.
2.)Whats the HP rating on the stock clutch of a 328is.
3.) Does the 98 328is have a stock LSD?
4. What are your three top online Bimmer performance stores that have relatively good prices?

Welcome to the fest CityStars!
I'll try answering your questions to the best of my information; but I know for sure that you'll get tons of reply from the guys/gals here:
1. This totally depends on the car's interior, exterior & mechanical condition. I'd say take it to a specialist and have them take a good look at it and they'll be able to tell how everything's going.
2. As far as I remember it was 192hp... Don't know if that was at the flywheel or at the wheels though
3. Depends on the car itself, does it have a sports package? If so, then it probably has an LSD. I read on a post somewhere that you can tell if your diff has an LSD if there's an "S" on the diff case somewhere. Not sure though. You can also ask the specialist inspecting the car, they should be able to tell you right away.
In addition, you can try spinning your wheels in some gravel in first gear. Look at the traces left, was only one wheel spinning and leave a mark or did both leave marks? If only one was spinning, then you don't have an LSD. If both were, then you should see two lines down the path and you definitely have an LSD back there. (Just for reference, this is Pirate's advice not originally mine)
4. Here are the ones I always use and they're trusted around here:

i dont think they put LSD's in those cars, i think they stoped in like 94-95 and then they went with the traction control method

If you have a DCS button just ahead of the gear shifter you don't have a LSD. If you don't have the DCS button you could have an LSD, but likely not in a '98 non-///M car.

This is a question that gets asked alot. In some ways we all hope that a smart business man making tons of money who bought your car brand new, serviced it at BMW to the T with top of the line products, babied it to death but was so ignorant in his sale that he inadvertently sold you his ride at an unbelievable dumb price.
You'll know if you got a deal or a lemon after six months when you understand why you paid what you paid. Good deal, bad deal? :dunno:

Google specs for your car and voila.

Look around to see what is available. Lots and lots of people posting in a wide host of forums what they think of some vendor. Do yourself a favour, Google, goolge, google.
good luck

I can guarantee that you do not have an LSD. At least not a factory installed one. There were only 10 328's that hit the US shores with a factory LSD. Odds are very, very, very high that yours is not one of them. Of course, there could have been one swapped in at some point though.
