Hello all,
I joined the forum because you all seemed so knowledgable..... so here goes.

I've just bought my first BMW and am very excited. (120d Sport, 2006) However, I got a bit of a nasty shock when I asked for a quote to have a removable tow bar fitted. (£ 1240.95) Anyone have alternative suggestions?

The removeable tow bar itself shouldn't cost much more than £ 200-250 or so (aftermarket), then some for wiring and labour... can't see it cost much more than 500-600 all-up! Where does the biggest part of that 1200 go - did you ask them to specify the quote?

Thanks - Apparently it's "a big job, you need the fan changing love, so it all adds up"!

Well if you're going to tow a caravan over the Alps I'm sure they're right about the fan and stuff like that...

With heavy towing it's probably for the best in the long run, to do it the expensive way.

(Who said caravan holidays are cheap? I really believe hotels are cheaper if you add it all up)
