brake lining light

Just became the owner of an '88 BMW 528e a month ago. A week ago, the brake lining light on the dash came on and the metal to metal sound started 2 days ago. Yesterday took off the tires, the front rotors and pads didn't look worn at all, but the rear ones looked very worn. Took them to a shop today, they put new rotors, pads and replaced the sensor wire on the rear (all I could afford right now)but the light is still on. Does anyone know why the light would still be on ,does it stay on till all the time until all the pads etc. are replaced, even though the front ones don't look worn AT ALL? The sound has completely stopped and they feel tight. Help out there in BMW land!!!!!

make sure that they plugged the snesor in all the way. I'm assuming that they replaced the sensor since it is a consumable item. Make sure that the front sensor is also nicely plugged in all the way. There is only one in each location: rear right and front left.

Good Luck!
