Hi all,
The lease on my E46 ZHP is almost up. I'm looking forward to do ED with my wife this Summer. I just found out about ED+PCD and that sure sounds interesting as I love to learn something from PCD.
However, I doubt that my contact at the dealership would understand ED+PCD.
Is there some offical term to call this process?
"ED and PCD redelivery"?
Where would the car go after ED? It would be shipped to my dealer and then to PCD? or it would be shipped to PCD directly?
Thanks in advance
Billy

Just go tell your CA that you want a Performance Center (re)Delivery. When he says it can't be done, tell him it can, and just file the paperwork for it. He should be able to confirm that it can be done in a day or two.
The car is shipped from ED to PCD (Greer, South Carolina), where you will pick it up. All prep work will be done at PCD, such as washing it, inspecting it, etc. You will drive it home from there. If you don't want to drive it, it can be shipped to your dealer for an extra ($500 or so) charge.

Just one amplification of DBville's thorough expanation: Performance Center re-delivery cars are discharged in Newark and taken to the New Jersey VCD for processing; then they go by truck to South Carolina. They are handled differently than new US delivery cars, which are shipped to Charleston for Performance Center delivery. I don't know why this is so, except that all European Delivery cars are processed either through New Jersey or Port Hueneme (in Califonia).

It has to do with customs laws... ED cars are not exempt from customs checks, unlike new cars (either dealer or customer ordered), so they have to go to those two ports you mentioned.

Please save yourself the headache and mess with CA's that are unfamiliar with this process. You will be doing a HUGE favor to yourself by contacting Irv Robinson (my CA) or any one of the other forum sponsors. TRUST ME! I did ED + PCD as well and it could not have gone any smoother!

I think everyone above covered it great
Just tell them to submit our reservation form. Our bulletin and the FAQ's on the website clearly state that it is now possible.
Have fun in Europe! I look forward to hopefuly meeting you at the Performance Center.

I tried to point my CA to the website, but I still kept getting "It's not possible"
Maybe next time.

Feel free to give out my contact info to any CA who says it's not possible to do both and I'll coach them through it !

Save yourself the trouble and just call or email Irv. We are planning out our ED now and I think the biggest headache is how long we are staying in Germany and what to see while we are there. Not to mention to quit changing my mind on options.
