1988 m3 instrument cluster

I reside in Western Australia. I have just purchased a January 1988 M3 (ex USA or Canada?) which has done low km and seems to be in original condition. It does however have and instrument cluster (predominantly black) which has white backings to:
petrol guage
speedo (to 300km per hour)
tachometer (with oil temp)
engine temperature

Does anyone know if this is the original instrument cluster? thanks

sounds like someone put white guage faces in place of the regular ones.

one easy way to tell if it is original is 1) the needles are red, 2) there is an oil temp guage below the tach.
