I have a 1985 528E and just replaced the OBD with a used one I found from at 86 528E at a junkyard, because the display on my old one had a few digits that were incomplete. Anyway my problem is that the new one seems to work perfectly except the range seems to be off by about 100 miles. Is there any way to recalibrate these, or does it have something to do with the plug in module on the back?

I haven't done any OBC (On Board Computer) replacements or work but I've heard that they need to have the correct plug in the back. Were there any burnt number sections or was it the back light? if the light is gone you can only see it if you stick your face to it! If its just the light I would swap the lights and re-install the original.
Good Luck!

I replaced the OBC because there was a burn't number, and I also had to install new bulbs in the light bar because I refused to pay over $30 for a new one. I got the OBC out of an 86 528E so I assumed it would be a direct replacement.
It also appears the MPG is off, I'll need to verify that the old fashion way.
Thanks for your help

I just found out that your OBC is different and that might be your problem; here is a link to another site:
