i replaced center bearing and guibo (strange thumping sound downshifting) on driveline last weekend.
big project. but it's like butter. smoother clutch in general. but i got a question.
i'm getting a bit of a howling sound in the morning driving around in first/second/third gear. it's been really cold here lately. i'd been getting some strange clutch/transmission sounds before this with the cold. but this is definitely a loud noticeable howl.
i'm wondering if i over pre-loaded the center bearing? i searched the forums and somebody said something about insulation for the center bearing. dunno.
didn't replace the u-joints. couldn't find the parts anywhere and the parts guys thought they didn't look bad. they pressed the center bearing on for me and do lots of stuff like that - so i'm thinking that's not it.
any help appreciated.
a few more items. i gotta clean my fuel injectors. i think seafoam sounds like the way to go. i'm getting carbon build up on my number 1 spark plug really fast. any ideas?
also thinking about having a local bmw repair shop adjust the valves/timing (thinking they have that computer thing to read all the codes in the car). mostly thinking they will tune the engine super nice. and tell me what else needs work in the car. do you have any advice or experiences with repair shops? i've mostly been doing my own work on this car.
thanks.
