My ED 335 vert is scheduled by Harms for arrival in NJ Feb 11th. Are there openings my CA can go for to do an abbreviated redelivery on Jan 28 or March 4th? I am trying to tie my redelivery with a weekend in Asheville for my wife.
thx

Hi Scott,
March 4th could definetely be possible (I assume you ment Feb. 28 on the other date, but that may be too close to call). I however do not do any scheduling and the lady that does in not in the office currently. No harm in having your CA go ahead and send in the reservation spelling out exactly what you would need (she process the reservation in the order they arrive via email). If they date can't be offered then the reservation is cancelled and no harm no foul.
Keep in mind if you choose No Overview which will open up more possible days for delivery, it is exactly that. We have recently had people request this to get on a date and then when they are here want someone to activate their satellite radio or pair bluetooth phones. For these vehicles all of the product specialist have regular deliveries scheduled and we have no one that can assist with this. Danielle who does our scheduling will be the one to give you your keys and make a copy of your tag and driver's license at the end of the day.
If you need any kind of overview, you will have to be scheduled as a normal delivery on a day so that we have a product specialist available to assist.
Let me know if you have any more questions. Hopefuly I get to meet you soon

Thanks, As long as the no overview includes a directions on how to activate Sirius I am fine (I assume it is just calling them with the radio unit ID#). The rest I am fine with. I just realized the march date I was hoping for was March 7. Not sure where I got the 4th. The 6th would work also. I am trying to tie it in with a weekend in the mtns. Would either of those dates work?
THANKS Jonathan!

You're more than welcome.
The 6th & 7th may be a little more tricky. Both of those days are full but should be able to add one or two no overview vehicles depending on how many vehicles the driving school will have available for us to use on the track. Definetely still woth the shot of sending in the reservation.
Sirius is very easy. When you click on one of the channels, it displasy the ESN# for the radio along with their toll free number to dial.
One side note however. The ESN# will have a pre-paid service attached to it that will equal 1 year. If you have an existing Sirius account and add this radio to it, you will loose the free year. What you will want to do is set up a new account to receive the free 1 year service. Once you do that you can transfer any existing radios to the new account you just created so that you get them at a discounted rate.
Sorry that was a littly winded but wanted to make sure you get the most out of Sirius.

Well I requested my dates through my CA 10 days ago and he has not heard back. My car is enroute and leaving Portsmouth tomorrow on the last leg for arrival at the VDC Feb 11th. My Feb 8th request allows 24-25 days to process through customs. I was hoping to get a date confirmation quickly to make weekend plans around it. Since that is the only week I am not travelling for work any other date would require me to have a "courtesy" redelivery locally on a weekend. Any one have any idea how long it takes to confirm a "No Overview" PCD redelivery?

Call you SA to see what he has done with the request. Regardless of when you want to go, the earlier the request the better.

FYI, ED cars don't have PCD dates scheduled until AFTER they clear customs in NJ. Mine took 6 days to clear customs and I then received a "no overview" PCD date about 3 weeks out from that date. I think I got pretty lucky from some of the stories I've heard here.
Tomorrow we drive up to Greenville and pick up the car on Tuesday!

+1
For ED vehicles, they will not schedule the them until they clear Customs. Once cleared, your CA will get an email with the first available date.
btw... your CA should have received an email back when he submited the reservation form verifying that it was received here and will be processed as soon as possible. If he didn't receive that email, chances are they did not receive the reservation here.

Why is that? That makes it very difficult to plan a trip with such short notice. At that point will I still be able to redirect the delivery to a dealer if the date does not work? I have to plan my work travel out quite a bit in advance and only have that March 6 & 7 weekdays open until April.

Because we have no idea of when we will be getting the vehicle. Customs can take anywhere from 1 to 4+ weeks to process a vehicle before they release it to the VPC at Port Jersey. From there, the port will fix any damage they can that was noted by the shipping company when you dropped it off. They will give us an ETA of when the vehicle will be available to be trucked to us. It usually takes 3 - 7 days for the truck ride from Port Jersey to us depending on how many stops they have between here and there.
You will still be able to cancel having it re delivered here at that point when you are offered a date. We don't let the port ship any ED vehicle to us unless we have a confirmed date from the customer.

Hey John-
My name is mike and I am taking delivery of my 328xi coupe on march 27 and cannot wait! From everything I have read you guys do a great job and I am really looking forward to meeting you. I have a quick question- I can drive stick but my wife cannot, and she really wants to learn. All the car rentals and driving schools here in upstate ny dont have manuals to teach her and none of my friend want to burn their clutches. Buying a rat/junk is not possible. My question is does bmw offer a class or a school to teach stick and if they do would it be possible to do something either the day before or after our delivery. Thanks in advance.

Hey Mike,
Unfortunately we do not have any class that teaches someone to drive a manual. All of our school vehicles are equiped with Automatics with the exception of some of the M vehicles. Those are only used in M Schools. In the M Schools, they don't spend anytime teaching how to drive a manual, but they do teach how to heal - toe downshift to match the engine rpms to the vehicle speed and gear you'll be downshifting to.
Sounds like you need to go on a few "test drives" with your wife at some car dealers nearby :bigpimp:. You can drive it off the lot and take it to an uncrowded parking lot for her to practice. Once she can get the feel of releasing the clultch to start, she'll have no problems shifting to other gears. For any newbie to a manual, starting on a hill is the hardest part, so I would save that for last (of course BMW makes it so easy now with their hill hold feature!).
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you in March
