Reverse Camera / Vid input

Hi everyone,

Im looking at installing a reverse camera to the 6 and need to know if there is a video input to the Idrive. Ive searched for this info but came up with nothing. Anyone with the answer? Better still, anyone with a pic of the back of the I drive unit??

Also, Ive read a few post about a DVD player and that it plays MP3 disk. Where is this DVD player? I dont have one in mine. My stacker is there but no DVD player?? Is it because US versions are different?

Unfortunately, in the US they don't offer the option, in other countries they have an option for front and rear cameras on the 6 series. There is an option for "accessory control" menu on the iDrive screen. The challenge, at least in the states would be to get the part and (if required) getting the dealer to enable the option.

So, finally! car is back from the dealer with a cool gadjet ;) the reversing cam is cool !

Mounting is very neat and the cam can hardly be seen, just between the rear plate number lights...

once you activate reverse, the iDrive jumps with a full screen rear view...

This is the closest point you can get from the car behind you, which is actually fine.

The viewing angle is not very high, coz the plate number is in the bumper and not the trunk like the 5er and 6er, but still it is good !

PDC works, you can still hear the beeping, but you wont see the diagram till you release the shifter to N or D. So if you are parking you car, the PDC diagram will be helpful to judge the distance infront of you, and the cam for behind ;)

wow, u really made an effort to post everything, im glad ur happy with ur new toy. thanks for posting. do u happen to know if there is any upgrade to change or be able to watch dvd movies on the dvd player been looking every where but cant seem to find any info. i would really like to keep it all original. maybe just changing the dvd head unit to european one or something. not sure if thats even available

great car stratus! i love the 6er in the stratus gray color.


It really bums me out that BMW doesnt offer a rear view camera for this 80k+ vehicle, when vehicles like ford have the rear view camera. I was on the phone with a bmw dealer and his only response to as why they dont offer the RVC, was, "our cars dont have blindspots".
ehhh OK? and? RVC comes STANDARD on CL 550. pity:dunno::dunno:
