Hello all,
I am a new member to this forum but not new to BMWs. Ownership started back in 1995 with a 325 sport, then 2003 525 followed by a 2006 530 for the wife and my current ride is a 2001 540 sport with a 6-speed.
Which brings me to why I joined, to get some advice from the people in the know. I picked-up my 540 several months ago with 140K on it. It was a one owner and well cared for. It's silver with black interior and looks great. The only concern I have is when it is started cold there is a hollow rattling sound coming from the motor for a second or two. The sound goes away after a second or two and never comes back until the next cold start. What could this be and should I worry about it and get it fixed right away or is it normal for a 540 with this many miles?
